Since launching the Feed In Tariff program in Ontario, our Province has seen a dramatic increase in the development of roof-top and ground based solar systems. Over the course of the past 12 months, upwards of 500 new solar companies have been launched. Some are manufacturers, while most are developers trying to secure rooftops for projects.
Many in the industry believe Ontario is THE most exciting solar market in the world. While solar veterans like myself are truly excited about this exploding market, we have been referring to Ontario as the “wild west” filled with “cowboys” and we caution everyone to ensure they are working with truly qualified teams and technologies.
Here at E*Gen, our main focus is ensuring as much solar power as possible is installed while this world leading Feed In Tariff program is in effect. However, we are also very conscious of the “cowboy” mentality that pervades the Ontario market – literally hundred of individuals with little or no solar industry experience making promises that most will never be able to keep.
We will be working hard to ensure that the highest quality, long term performing solar systems are the baseline of quality offered to Ontario residents and businesses.
